Nairobi calling

Gatwick airport: “well, your bike is 35kg and the limit is 30kg….”
Gareth: “hmmmm”
Kenya border: “you need blank page in passport for visa…..you have no blank pages…..you cant come into country!”
Craig: “hmmmm”

As much as officials at both end of our journey tried, no-one could stop us arriving safely in Nairobi. And that is where we are, assembling bikes, eating rice and beans and doing market research on African beer brands. Tomorrow we finally hit the road for the first leg of our adventure. We’ll cycle North East through the Rift Valley in Kenya toward Mt Elgon on the Ugandan border, before turning south again and heading for the Ugandan capital of Kampala.

There isn’t too much excitement to report thus far, we are mostly trying to recover from almost 2 days of no sleep inflicted by our transit (and maybe a few goodbye beers the night before leaving). Everyone is very much looking forward to hitting the road and getting this adventure underway.

We’re safe, we’re happy and soon, we will be, finally, riding.
